Swiss director Dominique Othenin-Girard brought a European sensibility to the film, including a controversial scene suggesting a psychic link between Michael and his niece Jamie. The film features one of the longest chase sequences in slasher history through a Victorian Gothic house, and the new Michael Myers mask—with its more human-like features—divided fans.
